Project Summary

Seth Tuler spent four months during 2008/2009 as a Fulbright Scholar at the Faculty of Public Health, Thammasat University, Rangsit Center, Pathumthani, Thailand. He studied the public health risk communication activities about air emissions from petrochemical facilities located at the Maptaphut Industrial Estate in Rayong Province. He also gave a series of presentations about environmental health risk communication to government agencies and industry:

  • Invited presentation to the Pollution Control Department, Bangkok, Thailand, 19 March.
  • Invited presentation to a Workshop sponsored by the Ministry of Public Health, Department of Disease Control and Prevention in Rayong Province, Rayong, Thailand, 25 March.
  • Invited presentation to the Faculty of Public Health, Thammasat University, Pahtumthani, Thailand, 30 March.
  • Invited presentation to the Petroleum Institute of Thailand, Bangkok, Thailand, 3 April.

During September - October 2009 he returned to conduct a study of risk communication capacities and needs for the Pollution Control Department.
